EA Anonymous…DISC profiles
This story is entirely fictional - a playful glimpse into the life of Krystal, a dedicated Executive Assistant in an Australian School. Inspired by the unsung heroes who keep schools running smoothly, Krystal and her world are products of imagination. Blending humour, heart, and a touch of chaos, this tale celebrates the resilience, wit, and warmth of EAs everywhere. Any resemblance to real people or events is purely coincidental. Step into Krystal’s office and enjoy her wonderfully messy, endearing world.
Another episode in the life and times of our heroine, Krystal, EA Extraordinaire to the Boss suffering from a mid life crisis.
In this episode which, the management consultant suggests that due to a “lack of synergy and alignment” the Boss and Krystal complete a DISC profile to better understand each other.
At great expense, a management consultant had been brought in to access the school and its direction. Krystal later discovered that this is where the Boss had picked up a great deal of his recent corporate jargon. Although much of this had fallen away, he was a still quite content to throw around lines such as “let’s circle back on that” and “that’s not my hill to die on.” He thought this made him sound important.
“This is rubbish, absolute garbage, what a waste of time, money and effort.”
Krystal knew exactly what had happened.
The Boss had just received his DISC profile, recommended by the consultant who felt there needed to be a “pivot to move forward” in the working relationship.
Of course, with access to the Boss’s email account, Krystal had already read the profile. The Boss was described as often “angry, aggressive, assertive, aloof, cantankerous, disorganised.”
“Mmmmmmm…..a bit harsh,” she had thought to herself, just as the Boss burst into her office gesticulating wildly and shouting.
“I’m not angry or aggressive, what a ridiculous waste of money!” He stormed out of the office, almost dropping his Frank Green water bottle full of herbal tea to calm his moods.
Krystal quietly opened her profile and read with interest.
“Sociable, trusting, intuitive, strangers are friends not yet met, optimistic, enthusiastic, confident, motivating, curious.”
This is wonderful she thought before turning the page. What a great report. Money well spent.
‘Flatter her ego, poor listener, talkative, overly-confident, will question every system and every step in every system, doesn’t take no for an answer, enjoys talking about herself and controlling.”
Mmmmm….thought Krystal, may be the boss is right, this might just be a waste of money.
Have you ever completed any personality profiling? What DISC profiles or Myers Briggs do you think the Boss and Krystal relate to?
