EAs EmPowered! SYDNEY
A workshop and networking event to empower Educational AdministratiVE Professionals who support Executive Senior Leadership Teams in schools.
‘EAs EmPowered!’ EAs in Education's inaugural in-person event was held at Wenona School, North Sydney on Friday 7 June 2024.
It was a day filled with opportunities!
An opportunity for learning, networking and collaboration.
An opportunity to create new connections with colleagues.
An opportunity for fresh perspectives, outcomes for implementation, professional and personal growth.
An opportunity to extend hands of friendship and form collegial bonds.
We were first joined by Matt Cowdroy from Think Productive to share with us the characteristics of a Productivity Ninja and ways we can implement them.
We then had a deep dive question and answer session with a notable panel of ‘dynamic duos’ Principals and Executive Assistants sharing the challenges, rewards and relationships at the core of this unique professional collaboration. Thank you to Briony Scott and Wendy Wickham (Wenona School) Dr Ian Lambert and Maryanne Walton (The Scots College) Brett Hartley and Melanie Riley (Rouse Hill Anglican College) Naomi Wilkins and Pam Waterhouse (Oran Park Anglican College). Thank you also to Dr Steven Middleton as facilitator.
Brene Brown defines connection as "the energy that exists between people when they feel seen, heard, and valued; when they can give and receive without judgment; and when they derive sustenance and strength from the relationship".
Yes the professional learning offered communication and conversation for growth, but what really warmed my heart was being able to provide a platform for connection. Connection for a tribe of educational professional assistants working for senior leadership teams in schools, a tribe with a shared interest, a tribe all present for the same purpose, a tribe seeking connection and a sense of belonging.
It was truly inspiring to witness like-minded individuals with a shared interest gathering to pass on their knowledge, experiences, and challenges in a safe and supportive environment. Let's continue to support, learn and empower each other in our roles to make a positive impact in the world of education!
If you’re feeling a bit isolated in your role, and would like to benefit from the support and learnings from a group of likeminded Education Administrative Professionals working with Senior Educational Leaders in schools - consider joining our community!
